"The moment a man loses the spirit of God and the spirit of the advasary takes possession of him he is filled with fear. For the sinners in Zion are afraid. Fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. No honest man or woman need fear. Indeed they never fear. What are they afraid of ? They have done nothing to cause the spirit of fear to come upon them. It is when a man does that which is wrong that he receives the spirit of fear."
He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.
In my experience, I've found that most women don't know their true worth. They judge themselves against unrealistic standards set by advertisers and fashion magazines. They believe they can never be smart enough, pretty enough, rich enough, successful enough, good enough. They are their own harshest critics, panning every performance, calling themselves up short. They have so little confidence in their ability to succeed that it often leads to a critical case of stage fright. Unwilling to risk a negative review, they stay out of the spotlight and remain in the wings.
The sea is dangerous and its storms terrible, but these obstacles have never been sufficient reason to remain ashore... Unlike the mediocre, intrepid spirits seek victory over those things that seem impossible... It is with an iron will that they embark on the most daring of all endeavors... to meet the shadowy future without fear and conquer the unknown.
Fear and courage are brothers.
Courage is the sin quo non of leadership: it is that quality of character that will encounter danger with firmness. Courage will stand on principle in the face of opposition and unpopularity. It will confront moral evil with the truth, and will face physical danger with valor. While others may falter through fear, a courageous leader will remain calm in crisis and vigilant in action.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the realization that some things are more important than fear.
Feeling the security and constancy of love from a spouse, a parent, or a child is a rich blessing. Such love nurtures and sustains faith in God. Such love is a source of strength and casts out fear (see 1 John 4:18). Such love is the desire of every human soul.
We can become more diligent and concerned at home as we express love—and consistently show it.
"If we are well prepared, death brings no terror. From an eternal perspective, death is premature only for those who are not prepared to meet God."
"Challenges, difficulties, question, doubts—these are part of our mortality. But we are not alone. As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have enormous spiritual reservoirs of light and truth available to us. Fear and faith cannot coexist in our hearts at the same time. In our days of difficulty, we choose the road of faith. Jesus said, 'Be not afraid, only believe' (Mark 5:36)."
