A faith without some doubts is like a human body without any antibodies in it. People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic.

"The moment a man loses the spirit of God and the spirit of the advasary takes possession of him he is filled with fear. For the sinners in Zion are afraid. Fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. No honest man or woman need fear. Indeed they never fear. What are they afraid of ? They have done nothing to cause the spirit of fear to come upon them. It is when a man does that which is wrong that he receives the spirit of fear."

It takes little faith to believe in God's existence. One can even obey God without much faith, in the way a slave or a pet obeys a master. Faith enters in at the powerful moments in our lives when we must decide whether or not we believe that God is good.

In my experience, I've found that most women don't know their true worth. They judge themselves against unrealistic standards set by advertisers and fashion magazines. They believe they can never be smart enough, pretty enough, rich enough, successful enough, good enough. They are their own harshest critics, panning every performance, calling themselves up short. They have so little confidence in their ability to succeed that it often leads to a critical case of stage fright. Unwilling to risk a negative review, they stay out of the spotlight and remain in the wings.

"Yes, faith is a choice, and it must be sought after and developed. Thus, we are responsible for our own faith. We are also responsible for our lack of faith. The choice is yours."

"Perfection does not come in this life, but we exercise faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and keep our covenants. President Monson has promised, “Your testimony, when constantly nourished, will keep you safe.” We push our spiritual roots deep, feasting daily on the words of Christ in the scriptures. We trust in the words of living prophets, placed before us to show us the way. We pray and pray and listen to the quiet voice of the Holy Ghost that leads us along and speaks peace to our soul. Whatever challenges arise, we never, never leave Him."

"I am convinced that there is no simple formula or technique that would immediately allow you to master the ability to be guided by the voice of the Spirit. Our Father expects you to learn how to obtain that divine help by exercising faith in Him and His Holy Son, Jesus Christ. Were you to receive inspired guidance just for the asking, you would become weak and ever more dependent on them. They know that essential personal growth will come as you struggle to learn how to be led by the Spirit."

There are no atheists in foxholes.

In proportion to the size of the vessel of faith, brought by us to the Lord, is the measure we draw out of His overflowing grace.
